UR: ABRAHAM'S HOMETOWN

UR: ABRAHAM'S HOMETOWN

Abraham grew up in Ur, a coastal city in the land of Chaldea. The discovery of certain cuneiform inscriptions in the 1850s A.D. enabled archaeologists to identify the remains of Ur at Tel Muqayyar, in southeastern Mesopotamia. A harbor city, Ur lay on the northern coast of the Persian Gulf during Abraham’s era. Over the ages, the coastline withdrew southeastward, placing the ruins of Ur about 150 miles northwest of the Persian Gulf and six miles south of the Euphrates River.

  1. Thank you Chuck, as a fellow graduate of SIBI, I genuinely appreciate your generosity in making available sound Bible based Studies that can be on-shared with others who are seeking a deeper understanding of God's word and His purpose for their lives. At present, I am serving our Lord as an itinerant preacher and endeavouring, with His help and guidance, to establish house churches where others can be taught to take on responsibilities to teach others and establish more house churches where people can grow in their faith through more interactive study of God's word. Your material will be an invaluable asset to what we are engaged in. May God bless you with His wisdom, peace, and courage as you reach out into this increasingly broken world with the message of hope and Salvation to be found in fellowship with Jesus our Saviour.
